Description
Sand Absorption Cone & Tamper
The Sand Absorption Cone and Tamper is used in determining the specific gravity and water absorption of fine aggregates smaller than 10 mm. The apparatus is manufactured from plated steel for protection against corrosion.
Thoroughly mix the sample and reduce the sample to the required size in accordance with AASHTO T 248 (Reducing Field samples of Aggregates to Test Size). The sample size for this procedure is approximately 1000g of material passing the No. 4 (4.75 mm) sieve.
